Field Day mix 05 – Dollop

Field Day mix 05 – Dollop

Nottingham’s premier party starters Dollop have been making waves in the capital over the last year for a series of warehouse parties that showcased the UK’s most cutting edge electronic labels, producers and DJs.

Talking of the latter, the Dollop trio are pretty handy behind at the controls themselves, and they’ll be showing off the skills and selection choice here at Field Day this year. Taking in classic house icons (Virgo, Cajmere, Lil Louis, Carl Craig) and new school icons (Blawan, Ramadanman) this session covers the lot in style.

Tell us about the mix you’ve recorded for Field Day?
“It’s a grey morning in Bethnal Green and we wanted to record a summer inspired mix with influences from some of our current and all time favourite producers. These influences range from Detroit in the 1980′s, to Chicago in the 1990′s, to London and the UK today.”

Any exclusives or particular favourites on there?
“Caribou’s amazing remix of Virgo Four ‘It’s a Crime’… due for release in the next few weeks. Dollop DJ Arne Blackman’s track ‘Misefy’ under his moniker AVB – which we will be releasing via our own dollop imprint soon. Personal favourites are the Carl Craig remix of Ultramarine and the recent release by Photek ‘Aviator’.”

What can we expect from your set at Field Day?
“As the five of us have different tastes we can play a wide range of music and depending when and where we are playing, our set will be tailored to this! In the past we have supported the likes of Factory Floor, Jamie xx, Carl Craig and James Holden.”

What else are you up to?
“As the mark of our 7th Birthday we have taken dollop national and launched in cities such as Bristol, Birimingham and Brighton alongside our normal residencies in London and Nottingham. It’s good to see what sound is working in other cities.”

What’s the most exciting thing about 2011?
“Field Day (especially – Carl Craig, Kieran Hebden B2B James Holden and SBTRKT)! We also have other projects in the pipeline, which will soon be ready to announce!”
