Death Grips
The Queitus claim that Death Grips are the single most exciting new thing they heard in 2011.
The duo Zach Hill and MC Ride were formed Sacromento and released Ex Military mix tape in April 2011. This is something of a jazz-hip-punk blended concoction, it’s difficult to dance to, not a song you yell to, but both are possible with the right syncopated mind set.
‘Punk-rap outfit Death Grips start frothing mosh pits with a style that seems in keeping with the hardcore-meets-hip-hop confluence that first ran through skate culture a dew deceased back’ Pitchfork
‘For a neat description of Death Grips’ ungodly racket you need only take a stroll through MC Ride’s diseased mind, essentially the de facto setting for the West Coasters’ Exmilitary, the most scintillatingly confrontational hip hop album to emerge in years.’ The Queitus
.Their music is gnarled, bleak, twisted, they deliver it with a sadistic glee, a malice and an energy that’s simultaneously electrifying and terrifying.’ Drowned In Sound
‘From a mixtape given away free in best cyberpunk tradition on the net, Death Grips have built up a reputation as the most promising new group to have emerged from the recently torpid world of hip hop.’ Clash Music
