Friends
Friends are a girl-fronted Brookyln pop group named after Brian Wilson’s favourite Beach Boys album. Unlike the stampede of girl-fronted groups with a preoccupation with shoe-gaze and indie, Friends are about rhythmic, sassy funk-pop.
The quintet’s self-described “weird pop” and mid set instrument swapping have caused a stir in their native Brooklyn, and with a place on the long-list of the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll, are surely making ripples over here too.
