Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd, released his first Vacuum EP on Eglo Records in 2009, followed by a series of 12"s and EPs on the label he co-founded from 2009 to 2015. His 2015 debut album Elaenia propelled him from underground dancefloors to festival stages worldwide, earning Resident Advisor’s Album of the Year.
Whether leading his 16-piece Floating Points Ensemble, venturing into the desert to create a short film and soundtrack (Reflections – Mojave Desert, 2017), or curating a collection of ambient and piano compositions for Late Night Tales, Shepherd is impossible to pin down. His 2019 album Crush showcased his symphonic craftsmanship, blending classical sensibilities with Buchla synthesiser textures.
In 2021, Promises, his dreamlike collaboration with Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra, earned a Mercury Prize nomination and a sold-out Hollywood Bowl show. In 2024, he returned with Cascade, an album of Buchla rhythms and glitchy melodies designed for club audiences. With live shows centred around the album, Shepherd continues to showcase his innovative interplay of music and visuals.
Bringing his compelling live experience to Brockwell Park, we are so excited for Floating Points to perform at Field Day 2026.
